With Christmas just over a week away, it’s really time to get myself sorted out.
Hopefully by now all of the presents should have been bought and wrapped. If this is the case, then hats off to you as you are way ahead of schedule. From a personal point of view, I still have loads to do, and am beginning to really worry it’s not all going to get done.
When you work, it’s really hard trying to organise everything, but I’m hopeful by Christmas that somehow it will all be sorted.
It’s not just the gifts you have to worry about though. All of the food needs to be organised. This can be a mammoth job in itself. We all love our roast turkey and naturally we have to have all of the trimmings that go with it.
I am a bit stupid though as it takes me all morning to prepare the magnificent feast and then when I lay the table, I don’t really do a proper job. Out comes my old chipped crockery, along with my mismatched cutlery. As it’s only been us lot before I haven’t had to worry, but this year I have my whole family coming round, so I think I am going to have to up my game a bit.
I am looking to buy some new dinnerware especially for the occasion. I have seen some I really love, and although it’s a bit pricey, I think it’s going to be worth every penny to go one better than my sister!!
At Christmas because my sister is pretty loaded, she likes to impress us all. Last year she gave us all wine gifts. She choose a wine cooler for me. It wasn’t just a bog standard cooler, it was sterling silver. It is absolutely beautiful and to be truthful I really do treasure it.
I know the cooler would have set her back a bob or two, so it seems a real waste to put a cheap bottle of wine in it, so I am going to have to blow the budget and buy some decent wine. I have got an expensive bottle of wine to start with and then once we have devoured a few glasses of this, we won’t care what we drink and I can bring out the cheaper bottles.
Whatever happens though, I know we will have a great Christmas, as all the family will be together and having fun and that’s what it’s all about.
