What I find great about Chinese takeaways

Given a takeaway choice as a last request for me and my family, I think that i would go for a Chinese. My favourite food is Chinese, with attention to detail that is normally experienced in a decent restaurant.

A Chinese takeaway is second only to a Chinese restaurant where you can enjoy being pampered by experienced professionals who care about the service that they give. My family and I recently made a trip to London, with the climax to the evening being a trip to China Town in Soho for a meal. This is probably the last place in Soho or even London as a whole to turn off its lights at the end of the evening because of the lively nature of the place. It was a pity that we could not be there for the Chinese New Year, with all of the vibrancy of colour and the firecracker sounds. However, this was not going to be a problem, as I later discovered one or two ‘firecrackers’ in my meal.

It is impossible to walk down the main street in China Town without being accosted by restaurant employees eager grab your business. Normally I wouldn’t like this treatment, but on closer inspection you realize that it is normal practice for these people in their native countries. The fact that our senses were being stimulated by the aromas rising from somewhere below us, did no harm whatsoever.

An interesting point about these types of restaurants, is the buildings that play host. They will often have a delicate Chinese facade on the front of the building, originally styled by the Victorians. They look as if they have been shipped over from China or Japan and reassembled in London, and have the appearance of an oriental temple.

i prefer the set-menu in a restaurant and a takeaway as I can then share the same food with other people in the group. This eating arrangement is a good laugh as it make the experience a social one allowing a group to share the same tastes in their food.
