Seneca Lake Wine Country Tours

When deciding where to go for wine country tours, Seneca Lake, New York is not the first place that jumps to mind. Having been there many times though I can assure you there is no better place in the United States to plan wine country tours. With over fifty wineries in about fifteen miles of each other, you can literally plan dozens of wine country tours in this unique and unheralded area.

Where to go on your wine country tours

With over fifty wineries to choose from, it is best to plan out multiple wine country tours. I would start with a tour on the northeast side of the lake, then one for the west side, and still another for the south east side of the lake. Each of these areas offers some of the finest wines found in the world, but you have to know what you are looking for.

For your wine country tours on the north east side you are going to want to go to Belhurst Castle. This winery also doubles as a hotel and offers some of the best samplings of wine in New York State. You may even want to consider staying here, although it can be a bit pricey.

For your wine country tours on the west side of the lake plan a stop at Bully Hill winery. This fun loving bunch will have you wanting to party from the moment you walk in the door. Unpretentious and spirited, they have a uniquely named collection of wines ranging from Love My Goat to Bully Hill Red. They also have a museum on site that gives you a unique look at the wine making process.

For your wine country tours on the south east side of the lake I recommend going to Glenora. This winery and hotel makes perhaps the highest quality wine in the area. Their prices are moderate and the wines are exceptional. They, like most of the wineries around Seneca, do some very good whites but do not ignore their reds. Some of the vintages in there will really surprise you. In addition they have a full restaurant and hotel so they can accommodate whatever you desire.

Seneca Lake offers some of the best wine country tours around so get out there and take a look. Plan to spend multiple days going to all the different wineries around the lake, and be prepared to have a really good time. Do not hesitate to try something new, as all along the lake adventure awaits.
