Shopping At A Tupperware Store

Almost since its inception the only way to shop Tupperware products was through home parties or some sort of contact with Tupperware representatives. The idea of a Tupperware store was not part of their business plan.

Tupperware decided to take the same approach that the Avon perfume company took and that is called direct marketing. Basically they would find people in areas all over the country that would not only sell their products but also host parties and make a career out of selling Tupperware and Avon.

Back when Tupperware was really getting going in the 1950’s there was no thought to a Tupperware store and there certainly was no hint of how computers would eventually change the way that every company does business. As times changed the Tupperware model of direct marketing made them world famous and Tupperware parties became very popular all over the world.

People would host these parties, display and market the Tupperware products, and then get a commission from the sales that their party would generate. This direct marketing approach grew Tupperware into a huge and successful company but changes were on the horizon and Tupperware would soon need to find a way to change with the times without destroying their famous business model.

The internet has become a mandatory business tool and any company that wants to stay in the public eye is forced to create an internet presence. Tupperware decided that a Tupperware store was needed on the internet and they have managed to create a Tupperware store on the internet without stepping on the toes of their individual marketing consultants. They do this by making sure everyone that goes through the Tupperware store on the internet does so with the referral of a marketing representative. So you can shop online and still support your local Tupperware representative.

Off To The Malls

Tupperware also decided that it would be a good idea to start getting exposure in the increasingly popular malls all over the United States. A Tupperware store can now be found in some of the country’s malls but a Tupperware store in a mall is usually an informational kiosk in the middle of the mall staffed by local Tupperware marketing representatives that have been selling Tupperware for years.

When Tupperware decided to get with the times they knew that meant creating a Tupperware store of some kind. In the end they were able to balance the changing times with the marketing methods that they have used for over 50 years to become successful and still make their marketing representatives happy.
